Zurich, 26 June 2019 – Farner Consulting is to welcome the renowned branding specialists Markus Gut, Martin Fawer and Fabian Bertschinger to the team. Markus Gut, one of Switzerland’s most decorated creative minds, is coming on board as a partner at the owner-managed agency and will join the Executive Board. He will manage the new Farner Branding division and build up the new business area together with Fawer and Bertschinger. Farner Consulting covers comprehensively the whole spectrum of brand management.
Minimal attention span, fragmented channels, diverse media consumption, the transition from mobile first to voice first – the demands placed on brands have never been so complex as they currently are. If brands are still to provide guidance and make purchasing decisions easier, they must be developed in a purpose-first fashion: with a mission statement and values that create company growth from the inside out.
Development of the specialised Branding division
Brands with purpose and a clear value focus serve to promote all of a company’s activities. For this reason, the communications agency Farner Consulting is strengthening its branding expertise with the foundation of a division that expressly specialises in branding.
The brand expert Markus Gut has been entrusted with the management of the area at the location in Zurich. As of 1 September 2019, he will become a partner and a member of the Executive Board of Farner Consulting. He will be supported by the brand strategist Martin Fawer and the designer Fabian Bertschinger.

The three-person Branding team will support clients in creating a distinctive brand, providing assistance with their purpose and values, their brand design, including product and packaging design, the development of integrated brand strategies, digital branding and the brand experience for umbrella, individual and product brands.
Farner Consulting is therefore offering the entire brand management value chain from a single source – from the creative brand development process, strategic brand positioning and brand communication to specialisations such as employer branding. Thanks to the close collaboration between Farner Branding and the other divisions, the agency will develop and manage brands and their purpose via all channels in a consistent manner.
Three top brand experts for Farner Consulting
For more than 25 years, Markus Gut has contributed to shaping the Swiss creative industry. He served as the CCO of Publicis for many years and helped to develop the Y&R Group Switzerland, likewise in the position of CCO. Most recently, he worked successfully in the role of CEO and partner at the branding agency Process with offices in Zurich, Shanghai and Taipei. For many years, Gut has been a member of the Board of Directors of ADC Switzerland as well as a member of the British D&AD, the International Advertising Association (IAA) and the Swiss Graphic Design Association (SGV). He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdk) and gives lectures as a branding expert at the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (HWZ), the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and the Ad School. Fabian Bertschinger is a prestigious designer and creative director as well as a member of ADC Switzerland and SGV. His work has been recognised with various international awards. He was the Head of Design at the Swiss snowboard and skateboard brand Zimtstern and Design Director at MetaDesign, Zurich. Most recently, he was Creative Director and a member of the Executive Board at Process. As a guest lecturer, he teaches in the areas of branding and design at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the University of Basel and at the F10 FinTech Incubator & Accelerator.
Martin Fawer is a brand strategist and has many years of experience in the area of brand positioning and in providing strategic support during the brand development process. During his professional career, he has worked in all disciplines of communication and, for example, oversaw the brand relaunch of Orell Füssli as Head of Marketing and Communication. Thanks to also working on the corporate side, he is very well acquainted with the perspective of clients. From 2014, Martin Fawer was Consulting Director and a member of the Executive Board at Process where he was Head of the Advisory Team for brand strategy, brand positioning and brand architecture.
